The Musical Theatre exams are designed for candidates who want to focus on a variety of musical theatre genres. Candidates demonstrate their skills in acting, singing and movement/dance and their increasing competence in the integration of these skills through the performance of extracts from works of musical theatre/film musicals.

The Speech and Drama exams are designed for candidates who want to focus on a variety of spoken and performance forms. Candidates perform and show knowledge and understanding of a mixture of texts including plays, poetry and prose in a range of styles and from different periods.

The Acting exams are designed for candidates who want to focus on vocal, physical and characterisation skills in dramatic performance. Candidates perform play extracts from a range of periods and styles and there is free choice of performance pieces.

These qualifications are designed for learners who, through solo performance want to engage with a variety of performance-based skills which includes, but is not confined to mime, improvisation, dance, costume-making, and puppetry. In these exams, candidates demonstrate their skills in the imaginative, innovative and creative exploration and integration of different performance forms and materials.

The Communication Skills graded exams are designed for candidates who want to focus on practical, creative tasks that reflect real-world situations. They assess candidates’ abilities to deliver talks and presentations, to develop and express their own ideas, and to listen, assimilate information and respond appropriately in discussion on familiar and unfamiliar topics. The format of the exams allows candidates to create their own programme, developing talks and presentations based on topics they have a particular interest in, or that complement their studies.
